Bing VS Google:Start of a trend?

Have you ever wondered how Bing and Google compare to everyday web user who wants to search for anything?

We all did!

So I did a quick test; using Google Chrome- as a Google browser- to search for Bing, and Internet Explorer 8 – as Bing/Microsoft browser to search for Google; call it trading places to see how they would list each other:

The results

  • Bing listed 1-20  Pages of 209,000,000 results when searching for the term “google
  • Google listed About 67,500,000 results when searching for the term “bing
That is understandable; given the weight of google and the tons of money it is going through it, but that is not the only difference,

The very first spot on each Search Engines:

  • The first (and the last) spot on Bing fornt page search results were …no surprize here…a sponsored Paid Ads for Google itself.
  • The first spot on the front page on Google search results was: Discover Bing, a sponsored Paid Ad for Bing.

How they listed each other:

  • Bing broke the listings for Google in a nice and neat way: Google Official site,Google Services,Google Downloads,Google Investor Relations ..etc
  • Google on the other hand just slapped on various links for Bing.

Now zoom in on the How part;  I do not know about you but I’ve just spotted a trend in the making:

If a search engine returned search results in a more categorized and an easy to navigate way, I’ll give it a try more often!

That is not an easy task;  given the number of inquires that can be tamed into categories when displaying search result listings, but admitting that we are kinda lazy by nature and we like our work-even searching-  convenient and easier to do, hoping for more results like that is a web surfer dream coming true!
